The YWAP course is entirely self-paced (you do the course in your own time) with no set start date. You can begin immediately upon registration, or whenever you are ready to start.
We designed the program to maximize flexibility for busy professionals who need to fit learning around their work schedules and commitments.
No, there is no time limit or deadline for completing the course once you are registered. The course remains accessible indefinitely, allowing you to work through the materials at your own pace and revisit content as needed throughout your career. This flexibility makes it perfect for professional development days, team training sessions, or individual learning over several weeks or months.
The course is designed to take approximately five to seven hours to complete. This timeframe works well for a full professional development day format, where staff members can work through the modules individually and then come together for discussion and reflection on their learnings.
The regular registration fee is $300 per participant.
For organizations registering multiple participants, we offer a group discount of $50 off per person for groups of five or more, bringing the cost to $250 per participant for qualifying groups.

The YWAP course follows the ASAP framework (Awareness, Support, Action, Prevention) created by YMHC, and provides participants with essential skills for supporting youth mental health. You will learn to recognize early warning signs of mental health challenges, develop non-judgmental listening and support strategies, help young people create personalized Wellness Action Plans, understand trauma-informed approaches, learn stigma reduction strategies, and connect youth to appropriate school and community resources. The program also addresses systemic and cultural factors that impact youth mental health.
For comprehensive information about the course structure and learning outcomes, visit https://ymhc.ngo/ywap. When you access this site, scroll down to the “Course Curriculum” section where you can expand each module to see detailed outlines of the content, learning objectives, and practical applications covered throughout the program.
Participants receive a professional certificate that enhances their credentials and demonstrates their commitment to youth mental health support. The course also includes a photocopiable resource booklet titled “Creating a Personal Mental Wellness Action Plan” that can be used directly in classroom, school, or community settings. You also receive indefinite access to all course materials for future reference.
Yes, the course content is valuable for elementary educators as it focuses on universal student support for all students, and upstream prevention and early intervention strategies that are developmentally appropriate for younger students.
You have two registration options for multiple participants:

Absolutely. Many organizations plan to have their staff complete the course together during professional development days, which is an excellent approach. Having the opportunity to engage and discuss learnings as a team enhances the professional development experience and helps build a shared understanding of youth wellness strategies within your organization. The five to seven hour timeframe works perfectly for a full PD day format.
The group rate of $250 per participant applies to registrations of five or more people.
No, sharing your account with other people is not allowed. Each participant must register individually to receive their own account and certificate upon completion.
Additionally, only one simultaneous login session is permitted per account. This means if you log in on one device and then try to log in on another, the first device will be automatically logged out. You can access the course from different devices at different times, but not simultaneously.
Organizations wishing to provide training to multiple staff members should use our group registration option to ensure each participant has their own individual access.
Currently, the YWAP course is offered exclusively as a self-paced online program. However, we are exploring partnerships with qualified trainers and organizations to potentially offer in-person delivery options for agencies and communities that would benefit from this format. We have received inquiries about in-person delivery in remote locations such as Nunavut and are discussing these possibilities internally.
